The Easter candle kept in the cathedral also known as il Duomo di Capua

The Easter candle, kept in the cathedral, dates back to the beginning of the 13th century.

The candle is decorated with elements adorned with multi-coloured inlays and components like the sculpted human figures.

The top of the candle is carved with a border of Atlas standing above acanthus leaves.

The section right under the top displays inlaid spirals and underneath this there are some gospel episodes.

The episodes deal with the resurrection of Christ.

The second segment of the candle is engraved with details concerning the Easter procession. In the background of this section, one can notice a long wine vine-shoot.

The last portion is coated with an extensive wine vine-stock.

Among the three sections, there are fragments representing birds pecking.
